Wicked- Origins of the Story

Wicked is a musical about the previously untold story of the witches from the Land of Oz from that famous 1930's movie of the story of the Yellow Brick Road and Dorothy who was whisked away to the Land of Oz and was caught in the middle of a war and feud between 2 witches.

Long before young Dorothy landed in the land of Oz two girls met and became friends. One was a very smart emerald green skinned young girl who was often misunderstood and the other girl was a beautiful very ambitious and extremely popular young lady. These two girls were at first close friends but eventually became opponents and enemies and better known as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch in the tale when Dorothy landed unexpectedly in the film of the name The Wizard of Oz

This untold story of the Witches both good and bad makes for a spellbinding story and an innovative new musical theme for years.

Wicked - the Storyline

The storyline is how two friends become enemies and explains how the Wicked Witch of the West was in fact more misunderstood and only became vindictive due to the corrupt behaviour of the government of Oz under the influence of the Glinda the Good Witch. It is seen how the wicked witch is merely retaliating against the victimisation against her.

The two witches meet whilst at the Shiz University and Elphaba Thropp the green skinned intelligent teenager meets up with the ambitious and beautiful Galinda Upland who changes her name to Galinda. They become room mates and their lives become entwined. Throughout the musical, their friendship is explored and severely tested, and through their personality differences and views and romantic jealousy, they become enemies.
