We Will Rock You - History and Background

We Will Rock You is a juke box musical based on the music of Queen. The musical is named after one of their hit songs 'We Will Rock You'. The musical We Will Rock You was written by comedian and author Ben Elton together with the remaining Queen members, Brain May and Roger Taylor.

The Rock band Queen whose music proliferates this musical is the legendary rock and roll band once led by lead singer Freddie Mercury who died in 1991 of AIDS. They had been making music since the early 1970's and created a string of hits, the most famous of which are included in this musical We Will Rock You.

The remaining members of the original band have joined forces with Ben Elton to bring this unique sound of rock & roll to London's theatreland. We Will Rock You, is a celebration of the fantastic music of Queen under the direction of Christopher Renshaw who brings his wealth of experience to the production of We Will Rock You.
