St Martin's TheatreSt Martin's Theatre is situated on West Street opposite one of the most fashionable restaurants in London frequented by the rich and famous, 'The Ivy'. St.Martin's was one of a pair of theatres, the other being The Ambassador, created by W.G.R. Sprague and constructed in 1913. St Martin's construction was delayed until 1916 due to the outbreak of the First World War and it is one of the very few privately owned theatres in London. The Willoughby de Broke family still own the theatre today and are totally committed to its preservation and continuance. The theatre can only be known for staging the worlds longest running play, namely Agatha Christies' 'The Mousetrap', which first opened in the Ambassador Theatre on the 25th of September 1952. It transferred to its sister theatre, St.Martin's, in 1974 and has been shown continuously ever since 1952 clocking up over 54 years of performances and entering the Guinness Book of Records. St.Martin's is one of the most beautiful and intimate privately owned traditional English theatres in London. ![]() Showing: The Mousetrap St Martin's Theatre | Performances | Information | Directions | History |
