     London Theatre Tickets » List of London Theatres » Prince Edward Theatre Prince Edward TheatreThe Prince Edward Theatre is situated on Old Compton Street behind Shaftesbury Avenue and Charring Cross Road. Originally named after the then Prince of Wales the theatre was opened 3rd of April 1930 and stands on the site of a famous large drapers store known as the Emporium. The Prince Edward Theatre has been a theatre then cinema then back to a theatre and once again to a cinema, and has finally been restored to its former intention as major venue for large scale musicals such as Evita, Chess, Mama Mia and currently Mary Poppins [as at Dec 2006].
