It first opened its doors in April 1928 and The Piccadilly was the first theatre where 'talking movies' were tried, with Al Jolson in 'The Jazz Singer'. The Piccadilly Theatre has been known for mainly short run productions, which may be due to the location of the theatre, somewhat hidden away behind Piccadilly Circus. Piccadilly Theatre has been a consistent venue for all types of productions including comedy, drama, ballet, dance, prose and talking movies.
